Paint is a substance with endless options. It has a freedom that encourages multiple layers of experimentation, with the potential to turn the mundane into the obscure and the obscure into the sublime. Focusing on forms, I apply layer after layer of paint, waiting for each to dry before the next application, building up its surface until its original appearance disappears. Through the application of layers, I can take away an object's function, manipulate and reinvent its very existence, enhancing their formal qualities such that they resonate and amplify.
